american rvs roots started back when. I was in high school at 17 years old.
I got my first full-time job back then we didn't really call him RV dealers it was just a trailer dealer. I just really learned to appreciate the customers and they said they wanted to make a career of it back in 87 i was on getting any younger his 42 years old and i didn't want to say regret that. I never tried to start my own dealership.
So, my wife and. I decided that we would go forward give it a shot in January 2nd of 1988 we opened our doors in a small little corner lot on 76 street in south division the previous customer mine gave me the shelving. So, does it grab a lot and.
So, sometimes our customers would have to be walking through mud and. So, that's how we started when my father started the business says what 14 years old it just was what we did. I mean when we RV.
I mean that was that was that every summer we'd stay out of Holland state park right there you could always go to the you know the general store and get your candy get all loaded up on your bike and then you drive back and climb the sand dunes just making friends that. I'm still in touch with today just because it's such a culture kind of what's developed me into understanding what it does for the family in the institution of slowing things down and it also it seems like it gives back probably more than what we even realized to the people that do decide to become an RVer we started with four employees and a real small little corner lot with one service day and today we have over 50 employees and three different buildings it's been a lot of fun through the years. I really look forward to it every day.
So, it really helps knowing every day you come to work you're doing something that kind of gets things back down to the most simplistic type of family activity that you can ultimately do it makes everything worthwhile. I definitely like to thank our customers for the past 25 years for having their trust and doing business with us we definitely don't take that for granted and we look forward to the next 25 years.
