hi folks Chris Anderson from Mount comfort RV today we're going to look at a North Trail this is a 2017 North Trail 22-footer they call this the 22 rbk lots to talk about with North Trail let's start with construction most lightweight trailer manufacturers they skimp in places they don't want to talk about when you want what you want to do something funny go through a brochure or even the website pick a lightweight trailer. I'll let you fill in the blank.
I'm not going to pick on anybody directly look for the parts where they talk about construction good luck they don't talk about construction then we'll talk about construction because they don't want to talk about construction then we'll talk about the features it has it has this it has this it has this. So, that's obviously part of what we do here, but we try very hard to show you why we have mount comfort RV picked the brands that we do we believe in them we believe they're better brands and what's out there. I'm not usually the cheapest RV on the planet.
I'm price competitive with anybody, but. I'm not usually the cheapest because my brand will run a little bit more, but we believe your customers will pay just a little bit more, if there's a lot more quality there so, if that's you keep watching, if not and went down the wrong website home, but anyway full two-inch thick sidewall on a lightweight trailer you can always tell that we'll talk about when we go inside, but these door frames are about two and a quarter inches thick and and how close is the wall to matching that thickness is the wall that thick or do they use a little piece of trim big big thick piece of wood trim right on the inside there to hide the fact that their wall is not that thick. So, something to look at it's a real easy trick something else would like to talk about it laminated floors now there's nothing wrong with a laminated floor, if they use something pretty thick and substantial on top of it as you can see they use the warehouse or structure wood right on top of it there and that's a nice thick piece what a lot of floor companies are using are luan which is the other the other side of this okay now using layers of luan as the floor they glue two layers together and that'll get through the warranty period that probably will, but you can tell when you walk into one walk on a North Trail or walk on another competitors lightweight floor you will see the difference okay this isn't salesmanship.
I like to show people why it's different you walk in and do a little bit that you'll feel the difference underneath your feet who wants a trailer with a soft floor. I mean that's a big issue and it's a huge repair, if you have to have it done. So, we talked about the sidewalls we've talked about the floor they're rough okay this is a fully pressed walkable roof and it's thick it's full of foam now keep in mind this is that same type of foam that a styrofoam coffee cup is made out of and if.
I'm holding an eighth in eighth of an inch of it in my hand. I can hold a boiling cup of coffee without burning myself. So, how much does that much give you it's quite a bit of insulation a little bit of this goes a long way this is a much thicker roof than what you will see in the marketplace and again all the North Carroll products are fully walkable roofs you RV maintenance on the roof is required by any RV at any price point you want to be able to get up there and do it instead of standing on it from the site or from a ladder from the side and trying to reach over not a good combination.
So, that's a little bit about their construction now let's talk about this one in particular got a light in here looky there we've got a huge pass-through storage ok good spot to keep my props we have controls right here for the power jacks this does have power stabilizers all the way around it alright we have a magnet that holds this door up instead of the little plastic beak that and inevitably gets broken off and they're slam doors. So, there's that all north trails are enclosed on the bottom side. So, the underbelly is enclosed that helps keep critters out, but more importantly than not it they blow a little bit of heat in there when you're whenever your furnace is running there's heat blowing in there on your tanks and on your water line so, if it dips a little below freezing you're not sweating you're going to be not worried about freezing up lines and that type of thing will power awning.
So, that makes life easy when you hear that storm coming in the middle of night you don't have to run outside and close your awning like you do with a manual awning you can simply press a, button and it goes in outdoor speakers to annoy your neighbors with a stove the vents all the way through the side wall and vents to the outside the water heater is gas and electric not just gas they all have gas water heaters on, but that's gas an electric when you're plugged in at a campground you might as well use their electricity to heat your water instead of using your propane. So, nice feature there that is a 6 gallon aluminum wheels this is a spread axle camper which takes a some tongue weight off for you makes it pull better going down the road because it just spreads out the weight with a better you can distribute the weight the better our camper is going to pull this camper weighs in at around 50 100 pounds. So, a lot of midsize SUVs on up can tow this.
So, you don't have to have a huge behemoth of a truck to do that we do have an outside kitchen actually an exercise refrigerator here a lot of times they have that little bitty one in there, but that's a decent sized fridge got a plugin out here and a cable hookup out here, if you want to hook a little TV out here a little table to set it on or prep table however you want to look at it normally this does come with a door as well we're kind of setting up for an RV show right now and the door was going to be a head knocker. So, we took it out of the equation. So, aluminum wheels gorgeous they dissipate heat they don't rust and they look good that's a that's that's a win.
I know what we really want to see the inside of this camper nice small one here come on let's go inside here's a better shot of what. I was talking about with the wall construction and how you can tell a two inch sidewall from an inch and a half or even an inch, if they just use a little piece of a very thin trim right here you can tell that that's a full two inch sidewall because that's basically as thick as the door isn't thick as the doorframe, if they used a big thick piece of trim they're hiding the fact that their wall is thin. So, that's something you want to avoid in my opinion this camper my way to 300 pounds more than some of its competition out there, but when that two or three hundred pounds is in the floor walls and ceiling.
I think it's worth it. So, there's my two cents let's talk about this floor plan we have a mid kitchen double sink Bowl down sink sprayer okay and keep in mind we're 22 foot camper here. So, nothing is going to be huge and a camper like this, but they did leave you some spuds in three different places for some countertop and they put the undermount stove in it with the undermount stove you flip up like this to use it you have three burners of course flip it back down, if you're not using your stove it doubles as countertop space there's a nice backsplash this year in the north trail product you have an oven and a microwave both they didn't make you choose between them okay six cubic foot gas electric refrigerator from Dometic anyway one nice part whenever you have a rear bathroom travel trailer it's usually a pretty nice bathroom.
I'm going to get out of the way let our camera get in there and. I'll do the talking from off camera here nice neo angle corner shower we have a medicine cabinet above the sink and storage below the sink over here to our right this is always something people are asking for is where do. I put my towels how about in the linen closet okay pretty good spot and we have a drawer down below and then.
I'm going to have our camera do 180 degrees here look at this storage there's actually hanging storage for short items there or it's just stack whatever you want to stack in there sigh it's a little dark head back this way wraparound u-shaped dinette this does make into a bed this camper will sleep for people you know it's primarily what we call mom and pop Co just was made for a nice couple looking to get away and not wanting to pull behemoth down the road if. I'm going to have a pan back this way. I'll shut that door.
I'm seeing kind of get a good shot of where the TV would go you can put a good sized television in here thirty-six would fit easily a forty might fit down below we have am/fm CD DVD and we have more storage above there's cabinets a whole back of cabinets above our dinette here as well. I think it's important when you're dealing with these small campers to talk about the storage a little bit because it's something you're going to run out of in certain campers there's a stove that comes with a stove a grill that comes with this camper. So, it's in here and this is good storage underneath the bed we have nice bright night lights or reading lights and then we have a hanging closet on either side little cubby holes down below and there's outlets on both sides of the bed so, if you have a CPAP machine or anything like that you've got not only a great place to set it, but you can even plug it in how novel of an idea is that ducted heating ducted air conditioning crowned roof on this camper it's a well-built lightweight, if you're looking for a well-built lightweight 50 100 pounds this may be the camper for you my name is Chris Anderson please don't forget to ask for me thanks for watching you.
